well i assume your truck has a 7 pin on it like mine.
2 things you can do that i am aware of. buy a 30 round plug that goes into the 7 pin and then has a spot for you to plug your 4 prong into.
or method 2 redneck style like i did.
go to uhaul buy the 4 prong pig tail.
wire it into the back of the 7 prong plug. (its marked on the cover by ford what wires are what)
and now you have both options.
i can haul a 7 or 4 prong trailer and dont have to mess with a thing.

I Guess I did mine the hillbilly way. Lazy. I bought an adapter at AutoZone or TSC that plugs into mt 7 pin RV and adapts to a 6 pin round and a 4 pin flat. No wiring needed. And I have 3 options.
Be careful of the 7 to 6 pin adapters. Some of them route the trailer brakes to the center pin, which is not the usual configuration.
I bought one at Wally World that was like that, I didn't look at the package carefully, and ended up rewiring it because it caused my trailer brakes to lock.

Yeah. There are easy instructions on how to rewire the adapter in the package. It's pretty idiot proof. You just take it apart and change the two wires and put it back together. It's the only two wires you can change.
But you know. When something is made idiot proof they just build a better idiot.
thanks for the help.
now i have another, can you replace that whole plug that mounts on the back of your bumper? there is 2 plugins and 2 screw that mount mine on the bumper and the whole things comes out. could i buy a whole new thing for with out changing the plugins that are stationary if that makes any sence?

While it was an easy rewire the fact that I had to do it in the Walmart Parking lot (long story here) with no tools except my trusty Swiss Army Knife sorta complicated things. Ya really need a screw driver and a pair of needle nose pliers.

They sale two. Wired each way. I'm the idiot they built them so you can change them for! I bought the wrong one TWICE! That's how I know how easy they are to change. But I did have a screw driver.
