trailer lights
1976 F250 4X4 Ranger XLT/360
I have an issue that I "assumed" to be a trailer wiring issue, but after replacing the hack wiring job done by the po, the problem still exists (so much for bad mouthing the po
).The issue:
When I plug my trailer in, I get;
left and right blinkers.
both brakes
running lights
Now when I turn on my headlights, I get;
No blinker to the right
when I turn on my left blinker, the left blinks, as does the right (faintly) and both turn signals on my dash light up.
The trailer plug wiring "appears" to be factory (or dealer) installed. None of the wiring has been hacked and all the truck lights work as they should when the trailer isn't plugged in.
At one time this trailer worked fine with the truck, this issue presented itself this past winter.
Thanks for any help or idea's that you might have, it's much appreciated.
Todd
The trailer is wired so that both taillight grounds are through the plug to utilize the truck as ground.
The truck has a round 4 pin connector. The trailer has a flat 4 and there's a converter (flat to round) between the two.
Everything is new on the trailer now (including the converter plug), but the problem is the same as the old wiring.
I just went out and rolled around under the rear of the truck, but cannot seem to locate the ground for the round 4 trailer plug on the vehicle.
The trucks wiring to the trailer plug appears to be a plug and play, as there are no spices.
