Looking at a 2000 crew cab powerstroke 4x4...opinions please!
Mornin y'all. Im looking at buying the above referenced truck. It's a XLT, 4x4, six inch lift, weld wheels, BFG all terrain (50%). 277,000. One owner. Clean Carfax. All service done by purchase dealer. Mostly stock other than that. Dealer just replaced AC compressor and charged system. Interior is good, except for driver's edge seat. Good cleaning and ok.
The (my?) Truck.Downside. Power door locks make noise but don't work, remote mirror switch intermittent, stereo broken.
During my test drive (alone) it drove straight, stopped straight and hard. 4x4 engaged and worked well. No noise in system. Good acceleration. No rattles or noises. Doesn't drip anything on the ground. Cruise and all accessories work.
I'm supposed to go in Monday. My girl is afraid of the mileage. But it seems well maintained for 17 years old.
Is 10k an acceptable price? They wanted 11,900. Anything I should be looking for? Thoughts would be helpful.

that's a good looking truck. the power door locks are easy to fix. is the mirror switch the switch or the mirrors. if the mirror then upgrade to the bigger more viewing area of the 08 and up mirrors. replace the stereo after checking all the fuses and connections. do a search here for a how to fix the power door lock actuators. you have to modify the motors resistor's or the new ones will also crap out on you. I took a 2 pennies and cut them in half and then trimmed them to fit in place of the stock resistor. 10k seems about right for a diesel ccsb. I'd try to finagle them down due to the tires and door locks. you can fix the seat or replace the fronts with 2014 and up seats. they're way more comfy. good luck!

Clearly not a rust belt rig. Mileage wouldn't scare me but price seems high to me for the mileage (again to me) Door locks need new actuators. One goes bad and the rest don't work right. I messed up and bought the cheap made in China ones on ebay and they didn't last at all BUT they did help me figure out which one was bad. On the mirrors I'm a set em and forget em type of guy so the power wouldn't bother me much unless they extend and retract by power as well. It'd be nice to know when the water pump was done or the power steering pump as I doubt both are original. Also nice to know if it has the original power steering box in it.
