Well I suppose it's a good thing I haven't had to post a problem in a long time.
Life has been very busy which sucks.....hate not being active on here.....anyway. It's getting hot here and my account doesn't want to blow cold. I went to add some freon today but it was full (scared I had a leaky condenser) Other than blowing hot it seems the compressor clutch cycles every few seconds and only for a few seconds. Any ideas??
Do you have a set of gauges? Pressures usually tell the tale on an A/C system. If there are no leaks and the system is not overcharged then maybe the pressure switch went bad?

With out gauges you have no idea wether the freon is full, over filled or low. Cycling could be either low or high head pressure.
That gauge on the can attempts to show the low pressure side. I would not trust it much. I did that once and the system started to vent when the compressor turned on. Overcharge and the gauge on the can was in the green.
I just recharged my Suburban. Bought the gauges and vac pump. Changed the receiver/drier and orifice tube. Vac'ed the system, charged based on the proper charge for the vehicle and I am blowing in the low 40 degree range consistently .
Nice....well I was low on freon. Got a neighborhood buddy to hook is gauges up....he put a can in and it's blowing cold. Now my question is how long it will last. I must have a leak somewhere....for another time I guess.
I do need to get some gauges and a vac pump to do this stuff myself.

Too many people trust the gauges on the self help cans. Some times it works out. Slug a compressor and you'll wish you'd paid a pro. You need to know the low and high side to see what's really happening.

True....last 2 ac work I had (one a Bronco and the other a tahoe) both cost me 1500 each!
