A/C Fully charged but blowing hot

2014
A/C is charged according to the pressure gauge on refill can. Air still blowing hot. Is there something else I can check before bringing to the stealership?

Pressure gauges on the cans are fairly useless for diagnostic use, especially for a TVX system. You REALLY need a full set of gauges in order to see what's going on in the refrigerant system.

Did you check to see if the compressor clutch was engaged and the compressor shaft is rotating?

Dealership wants 2K and says there is a leak in the evap core.

So the dealer says that there is a "massive" leak in the evaporator core. Yet, I charged the system. I know you say those gauges are not that accurate, but I would assume if the system was "empty" as they are saying there would be room to add some refrigerant. Plus they are trying to charge $600 for the core and 11 hours labor.

Is this something that can be DIY or is it better to have them do it? Does it really take 11 hours to replace the evap core?

Thanks!!

The single gauge will LIE to you if you don't know what you're doing and know how the system is supposed to work, especially on a TVX system. Don't trust it for a second.

Replacing the evaporator core is a big job, the whole dash has to come out of the truck.

Suggest getting a 2nd opinion from an independent shop.
