My 13 had gallons used. Both my old '16 and new '17 have DTE. I think too many customers complained about it being inaccurate so they changed it.

Our new 2017 K/R with barely 400 miles is averaging 18.8 mpg right now. FWIW (3.5 EB)

I have been getting 20.7 mpg with my 17 Roush SC 5.0. I am surprised that the eco is lower.

If you are saying that the lifted truck in your sig shows a lifetime average of almost 21mph, you probably shouldn't ever hand calculate....it would be depressing. Or, you live in a flat rural area and drive slow/have lower speed limits.

I reset the mpg meter at each fill and it is within .1-.2mpg of the hand calculation. If you reset at each fill, the meter will be very accurate.

I just calculated my true mileage. I've put 1880 miles on the truck and it has consumed 101.383 gallons of fuel. That gives a hand calculated lifetime average of 18.54 mpg. That's pretty darn good for a truck that commutes in an urban environment....9 miles each way to/from work with 4 stop signs and 15 stop lights. At least it is helped by me taking it on business trips to neighboring states.

Not on my truck! My lie-o-meter consistently tells me I'm getting in the vicinity of 22 mpg. But the data I enter into an Excel spreadsheet tells me the actual mileage is 20.6. And yes, I do reset at every fillup.

Are you trusting the gas pump to tell you how much you used?

My LOM is almost alway about 1 MPG high. If the meter says 21, the real mileage is 20. If it says 19, the real mileage is 18, and so on.

We also commute up/down a mountain on almost every trip. Going down the mountain, the real-time meter often shows 30 MPG. Going uphill, it's more like 14.

I don't worry about much any more, but it's interesting to watch, and it's darn better than my wife's Tacoma. Considering this thing is dragging around an extra 1000 lbs or so more than the Tacoma, it's doing darn good.

What are you trusting to tell how much you used? Pumps are regulated and must be certified/inspected every so often. The LOM doesn't have any of the above.

I trust gas pumps more than anything else here. They're checked all the time by the state and nobody wants to lose their license to sell gas here!

There are even sting operations. A while back, they had one short and chubby female inspector drive around in a Dodge Aries station wagon. Hidden in her car was the measuring equipment and she busted a lot of gas stations (nearly all were Texaco, if I recall correctly) because they had a system to instruct the machines to give an accurate amount if government inspectors show up with their trucks and measuring equipment, not chubby short housewives driving around in station wagons, let alone a Dodge station wagon.

Been a while since I've posted.

Bought a 2017 Lariat 3.5 EB 10speedFX4 with 3.55's and E-Locker in June and have less than 2000 miles on it now.

I am currently averaging (by calculator not dash) 16.5 in the city and I have only had a very short road trip(88 miles) and averaged 20.4.

In my old 2010 2wd with the 5.4 and 3.31 (?) with a tuner, I never got better than 14.5 in the city and about 16-17 on the highway

I am pleasantly surprised at the gains considering i am now in a 4X4.....I am not babying it, but not driving like a maniac either.

Update:

I'm now at 2895 miles and have used 157.08 gallons (from my gas receipts) of fuel.
That gives a hand calculated lifetime average of 18.43 mpg.

Darn good....when I'm not in an urban environment, I'm on the interstate running 75-80 mph (70 & 75 mph speed limits). Speed definitely plays huge role for these trucks.
