I have a 16 screw 2.7 with 3.55. I live in the pittsburgh pa area and am not far from the Ohio line. I notice when driving in pa during my normal day to day driving I get anywhere from 18-20 mpg mixed highway and city doing 65-70 on the highway. What I did notice though is when I drive in Ohio I get way better mileage anywhere from 21-25. The main thing I see is in western pa we have a bunch of rolling hills so even on the highway you are constantly going up and down where as in Ohio it's more flat so I really think things like the geography of your area along with speed and other factors like the load you are carrying. I'm really happy with my choice of the 2.7 I think it's a good combination of power and fuel economy. I think in my general area the difference in geography from one place to the next really affects my mpg.

I totally agree with that assessment. We live in the mountains south/west of silicon valley, so we generally have a 2400 climb or descent, depending on which way we're going. Going downhill, we often show 30 MPG, but on the uphill it's more like12-15.

Wish I could go downhill all the time!

My average mpg for a month dropped to 17 when I did quite a few full stops then going back to 70 mph. A lot of streets out in the desert are posted at 65 mph.

Another month, i averaged 22 because I was in a different part of the desert that had no stop signs or stop lights.

Frequent stopping really affects the gas mileage. Just think of coming to a full stop then using all that power to bring the 5,500-pound beast back to 70 mph.

Not an EB but 5.0L. When we went to MI and back last year, we averaged over 21mpg and that was running 4 over the limit with cruise. The way up we weren't empty but weren't loaded either. The way back we had ~40 bags of Michigan peat in the bed along with everything else. I just turned 40K on it this morning and according to the LOM, it's lifetime avg is 19.2

2015 3.5, 4x4, SCREW short bed, 3.31 gearing. I log my miles and gallons used at every fill up. My log comes out to 19.4 MPG in the 4600 miles I have owned the truck. There is some towing in there and the standard mixed city/hi-way driving. The dash tells me 20.2 MPG. The last tank was mostly hi-way and about 1.5 hours of slow gravel / dirt roads in 4x4 with 4 kayaks in the back and 4 people (first time the truck seemed small!). That tank average was 19.6 MPG.

I'm in western PA and my daughter lives across the line in Ohio so I make that trek a lot. I've noticed the same thing. This last time out I had around 21 on the LOM on the way out. I filled up on my way home (you're crazy if you don't with the difference in price) and at one point the LOM said 29 MPG on the way home! Now, I know that wasn't true but it sure was nice to see even for a short time. 2016 Lariat super cab 2.7 with 3.55's. I will say this though, 60 plus miles home and the gas gage didn't move. It sure did on the way out.

I have just returned from a 7370 mile road trip with my 2017 3.5EB with 3.31 gears 4x4 5.5 SCrew. I hand calculated 20.48mpg. This was with AC & Adaptive cruise on full time. Mostly 68-70mph two tanks of 85 octane the rest 87 octane. One short spirt to 105mph and a couple to 90mph while passing. Truck ran great. 10 speed and the adaptive cruise worked great in the mountains.

How are you guys getting "gallons used" where my display shows "distance to empty"....is that ForScan or a setting in the system? I'm sitting in a hotel room, so I'll have to try to remember to check that out in the morning.

How odd. If you look at my picture, which is post #9 in this thread, you can see that mine just shows another DTE display...not gallons used. ???

interesting, it matches what is above your gas gauge. I dont remember messing with any of the settings in the menu, but i guess i have had the truck a little over two years so anything is possible. Definitely have not done anything involving forscan or anything foreign for that matter, bone stock.

FWIW, I am at 4600 miles on my '17 and the lifetime avg is now 21.0.
Just filled up today and that tank was 22.3 all daily commute.

Mine shows DTE also, would prefer gallons used, but can do the math if I really need to.

Yours is a 17, so is mine. I guess Ford changed it for 2017. Bummer. It's a duplication of data that is already displayed....they should have left it like the previous years, which would give additional info.

I'm around 19.6 or 19.7 lifetime mpg on the EVIC. I'll post my hand calculations on Monday.
