Question Headers?

I am new to these forums and I had a question about my 1973 F-350 Super Camper with the 460 and C6 transmission. I am not sure if it is any different from the 1973 F350 Camper Special other than they changed the name halfway through the model year. Anyways I was wondering if anyone knows of headers that will for sure fit this vehicle because the manifolds are cracked and instead of replacing them with another set of manifolds I was just going to put on headers? The problem with just standard headers is that there is a cross-member, motor-mount, and anti-sway bar that are all in the way. So if anyone knows what will work great, if not then I will just have them custom made.

Welcome to FTE...lots of good people here and often willing to help.

Ford didn't put the 460 into out trucks in 73, so if you have a 460, it's been swapped-in.

I'd guess standard 460 headers wouldn't fit, but I really don't know. However, one of the great things about FTE is somebody will be here soon with a definite answer! Hang in there...

And if you get a chance, post some pictures-we love pictures!

I know for sure that the 460 is the stock engine and that it is a 1973.... I am still not sure what the difference was but I know they made a "California Edition." I also know that they only made this truck for the first six months of 1973 for some reason and that is why my truck is the Super Camper and not the Camper Special. I will try to get some pictures on soon but I will have to retake the pictures that show how little room there is for something such as the manifolds. Thank you very much PapaBearYuma for your information. I believe that the 460 engines were not very common in 1973 trucks but they for sure made them that year. I also have the original users manual as proof if anyone would like me to put it with the other pictures I will put on.

I have used Hedman Elite headers on numerous '65-'79 2wd /460 trucks. Never had a clearance issue of any sort. I will say all the rigs had C-6 transmissions, none had a manual trans.
All the trucks I have installed the headers on used the factory 3 piece engine mounts (frame stands, insulators and engine cups), with the engine mounted in "stock" locations. Can't vouch for header fitment on any other mountings.

Hope this helps.

460 headers

I think L and L Products sells headers that fit but don't have personal knowledge. Check their website.
