I've been searching for the better part of two hours now and have not been able to come to a decent answer.
I have a 1988 F250 with a carbureted 460. I don't have any of the numbers from the engine, but when I bought it I was told it's a 1985 vintage engine. I know from searching that the engines were changed in 88 for fuel injection and emmissions control and all that crap.
My question is, will headers for a 88-97 460 work on an 85 460? Also, does anyone have any pictures of thier 460 with headers in the engine bay? I have been looking around and trying to visualize how they might fit in my truck, but it's kind of hard to do. Thanks for all the help I know will come.
Short answer, NO.
When the EFI engines came into play both the intake and exhaust ports on the heads were changed, so it won't match up.
You will have to find headers that fit a pre '87 engine. And you don't mention if it is 4WD but the front driveshaft is a factor too if it is.
huh, learn something new every day, I did not know that^^^ On the small blocks, the headers are interchangable, I have long tubes for an 80-86 on my EFI 89 351W.
My truck is 4wd. Anyone with headers have any pictures of your engine bays? I'm tryin to get as much information as I can before I get home in a couple of months. Also, has anyone used any of the exhaust kits from jegs or summit? Thanks.
