Hows it going guys. I've got an 05 Expedition with the 5.4 motor in it. I had a knocking noise and finally got a check engine light for misfire. I decided it was time to change all the spark plugs and coils. Surprisingly this got rid of my knocking and it ran better than it has in a long time.
The car was good for about 2 weeks and now there is a knock again. The knock is not as serious sounding as it was before though. I checked the easy plugs to get to see if they are fowled but they look fine. Anyone have any other suggestions i can check??
I've also noticed its also doing a slight backfire if i rev the motor up and let off which never happened before. The car still runs good and all but i hate the sound!
Are you sure one of the spark plugs wasn't blown out and the threads stripped?
I hope not, I checked the front 5 spark plugs that are easy to get to. I guess I need to pull the remaining 3 out to double check that. That would throw a check engine light is that happened though wouldn't it?

If it were out all the way, yes. But since it's not as bad as it was before it might not be all the way out yet, assuming that is the issue at all. I'm just tossing it out as something to check out.
