I think I got the fuel gauge situation sorted out. Basically the arm on the new fuel sending unit was too tight and the float did not float very well. As a result, it got suck at a quarter of a tank.
Took it on its first trip over 50 miles this weekend. Everything was going fine until a few miles from the destination. The speedometer made a whirring noise and went to 0. It was working fine up until that point. Previously I pulled the cable out and greased it. After I got home, discovered that the cable had twisted up inside the housing and snapped.
But in any event, the truck is getting a bit of attention...
