What's your goal?
High performance racer?
Torque monster?
Stock replacement?
Just replacing a worn-out engine?
Will you return your current engine as a good core?
Probably not a lot of choices above the arctic circle. Do you have something like AutoZone that can order a reman?
Summit would probably ship, but it'll cost ya...
I think the 400s are basically the same. Only difference I know of is the ring gear and starter for auto vs standard trans
Thanks ! Sorry for not explaining how I am going to use the Engine. It's going to be a stock replacement for my worn-out Engine. It's not critical yet but I am going to keep this Truck and are now making plans for an Engine swap. The 351M/400 Engines are difficult to find over here and I was thinking of an import from U.S. My plan was to try to find a usable Engine to put in the Truck now and maybe rebuild the old Engine later on. I dont know for sure if this a good plan or if it's better to buy a rebuilt longblock. I have been checking for Engines around Phoenix AZ mostly because I know a Company over there shipping Containers to Sweden with Cars, trucks and Parts. (Copperstate Classic Cars) I found one Engine on AZ Craigslist and they are going to contact the owner for me and ask questions about this Engine.
I really appreciate suggestions from you guys!!
I have a great running 400 out of a 79 F250 that I could ship to AZ. If interested pm me your email address and I can send you the details & a few pics.
Honestly if you just want ship something to u I would look around everywhere. I have family in North Carolina that go and look at stuff for me so look where u have family but if your truck is a automatic then stay with a auto and try to find one near your year of your truck. Also u can check out coparts it is a auto auction but most cars have a salvaged title but u can get a killer deal sometime and you get the whole truck for parts.
Thanks a lot everyone for all suggestions. I have to think about this for a couple of more days before I decide, because this is probably going to be very expensive.
That's why I wanted to start with AZ there I know there are container shipping
direct to Sweden. I have no idea about shipping costs inside U.S but I wanted to avoid to pay for shipping 3 times. (inside U.S + Container+ inside Sweden)
twinzilla. I come back to you when I know more about this. I think you live in New York State and it's probably better to ship Engine from U.S east coast instead og shipping via AZ.
77 short box. I have a rebuilt C6 and just need Engine. I wrote (400+C6) just to explain it was for my aut Truck. Sorry if I was vague.
Once again, thanks for the support!!!
There a fellow in Sweden that owns 1000's of American collector cars/trucks.
AFAIK, he has them stored in shipping containers. He has two reps that go around the US, look for and then buy them for him.
An AZ shipper would normally truck the containers to either the Port of Los Angeles or to Long Beach, where the containers are loaded on ships.
Several years ago, I sold this fellow several vehicles, the reps drove them to a shipper located near the Port of Los Angeles.
This fellow's reps would not buy vehicles located in states east of the Mississippi River, then ship them to AZ, because this would make no sense at all.
