Hi guy...
having been on many explorer forums, hard to say....
But we've been so pleased with our 13 Sport that we bought it at the end of the lease and just put new tires on @ 90k miles....
the only complaint I've had is the navigation puts you off road when you least expect it - really maddening !
Sounds like a gps positioning problem that is prevalent to many fords as I had the same thing on my f350, the f250 I don';t recall it doing that, but that was a long time ago
Its time to get a SUV, been a long time member in Superduty diesel forums.
Do you have any stickies on common problems, what to check for when looking at a used explorer?
Also, what is the 'best' year of the 2011-2014 models?
Thanks!
I know how you feel. I had a 2005 F-350 PSD for 8 trouble free years and really loved it but after back surgery couldn't take the pounding any more. Traded it on a new 2014 Sport. That was a mistake. Great vehicle. Fast. Handled really well. Never had a problem with it or had to return it to the dealer in the 3 years I owned it but I grew to hate it. Didn't ride that well, the seats are terrible - they're designed for skinny behinds - something I don't have. Not a whole heck of a lot of storage space and after a while the phony, audio system provided engine sounds just get annoying.
After 3 years I traded it on a 2017 F-150 Super Cab Lariat which I love and have never looked back.
I had a '13 and it was a great ride. Was in the shop a few times for misc. rattles and minor issues, but nothing big. I wouldn't bother with the Sony stereo, it sounded only marginally better than the basic stereo. Not worth the money. If I'd kept my stereo any longer I'd have upgraded to an aftermarket solution.
If'd gotten a Sport, I'd probably still have the car. The EB is nuts in my F-150, I can only imagine what it's like in the Explorer
