I recently received my dads old 58 f100 and my grandma cant find the keys for it. What is my best point of attack, i have no ignition key im not sure if its the same key for the doors. I would really rather not tear anything up, any suggestions?
Pull a door lock and take it to a locksmith, at least you'll have a door key. Plan B, Change the switch, lock cylinder and keys. I don't think you can remove just the lock cylinder without the key.

At least one of the usual F100 catalogs has a lock kit, to replace all three. Have to replace the switch as well though, since ya don't have the key. Need the key to separate the lock tumbler itself from the ignition switch.
Maybe first look carefully in and around/under the truck. Maybe gramps kept an extra key hidden somewhere.
When I bought my slick, it had the original two keys. One was well worn, the other like new. I put the "like new" key somewhere safe. Well, it must be REALLY safe, cuz I ain't seen it since.
If you are handy and meticulous you can cut the key your self. Pull the door lock pop the cover off the pins being sure not to lose the springs.
Use a small tray or trays and individually dump out each pin tumbler in to it's own container/space be sure to keep them in order from front to back, top and bottom and up and down.
Insert the blank in to the lock and mark the key through each tumbler hole so you know exactly where the pins sit on the key.
Install a lower pin and its upper in one hole
Get the blank key and start filing on that pins location go slowly and try turning the key often eventually you will get the key to turn with those pins in place. Then remove that set of pins and repeat the process for the next 4 pins. Go slow take your time and eventually you have made a working key. A locksmith can then use your home made key to cut a proper key. There are lots of videos on you tube on how to do this .
Best to use a passenger side door lock as it will have seen the least amount of use and should be the least worn. That is of course if you actually have a driver side door lock if not then the passenger side could be badly worn and you may not get a key that will function in the ignition.
So I pulled the door lock and had a key made. Works great...for doors only ha. Need to have a different key made for ignition. I haven't spent any money on the truck yet, just waiting for the wife to let me lol.
