tailgate assist

I ordered/bought a '17 F350 Lariat Value package, does anyone else out there know if the tailgate assist is supposed to be included on this package. I know the XL/XLT doesn't have it but I'm surprised if the Lariat doesn't come with it.

"Tailgate assist" is on all of them, starting with XL series. Are you talking about the remote release or the step? I don't think the damper was included on any of them from the factory.

I'm referring to the damper, the Lariat Ultimate has the damper with the button release rather than a handle so I'm assuming its on KR's & Platinums. I'm just trying to figure out if the damper only should have been included on mine. When you read the standard features on the build site for a Lariat it says tailgate assist is standard, but it is not listed under standard features on XL/XLT.

If your truck does not come with it installing one is very easy and cheap. I think they are under $25 on Amazon.

I have an F250 Lariat Value package plus some but it did not come with the tailgate dampener. I did install one recently and find it very helpful. Hardest part of install is physically moving the tailgate around.

I think "Tailgate Assist" refers to something other than the dampener. My truck does not have the dampener, but ALL 2017 Super Duties with a bed have "Tailgate Assist" per the order guide.

it's the torsion bar that helps spring the tailgate up

If you install one, do yourself a favor and buy the Ford one for $65. It's super easy to install and completely hidden. My buddy bought one of the Amazon ones and it doesn't work for ****. So he bought a second one for the other side of the tailgate and it still doesn't work as good as the stock Ford one, so he saved no money, has two struts that get in the way, and ended up paying $1 more than the Ford one lol.
