Bed mat recommendations

I have a 2017 250 CC LARIAT 8' box , I am looking for a rug type mat for bed. Would like something non rubber, thick and easy on knees.
Also how hard is it removing factory 5th wheel hitch plate and re-installing?

Not sure why you wouldn't want a rubber mat of some sort. Whatever you get needs to stand up to water even if you do have a bed cover.
The bed rails or the mounting brackets that are attached to the frame each are just bolted in and can be removed easy enough. They are torqued down very tight and will probably take a large handle ratchet or a breaker bar to loosen the bolts. Just make sure to torque it down to specs when you reinstall
Are you changing hitches?

Check out Bed Rugs, I believe it's exactly what your describing. Just an Idea .. I bought a 1" thick 4'x8' Rubber Horse Trailer Mat at my local Farm & Ranch store for about $80.00. Maybe, you could cut out the attaching area ??

You will need to cut out the bed mat around the rails. It is not recommended to install the rail through a bed liner or mat. Won't get the proper torque and will loosen over time.

My local farm and ranch store sells a 4'x6' Stall Mat that might work, except for that last 2' section.

Murdoch's ? Quality Rubber Resources - Horse Stall Mat PUNTER Top with Wide Rib Bottom

They also sell interlocking mats that you can use to get to whatever size you want.

I'm using a Bedrug Liner. It helps to keep things from sliding around, keeps the truck quieter, and my knees really appreciate it. No problem keeping it clean with soap and a pressure washer (coin car wash). I cut holes for the pucks and made up some vinyl covers that velcro on top of the holes to keep out debris when not in use. I would not use a Bedrug if I was hauling dirt on a regular basis.

From: Homer Glen IL,
Bed rug recomendations Thanks

Great thanks for all replies!!! I want to remove hitch so I can install rug correctly with cut outs for holes etc. I will go with bedrug as that is what I have seen on line. I believe ford has one on their site.

I have used BedRug liners and mats for both rails (just cut out where the rails go) and factory 5th prep where I just cut circles for puck access. Very easy on the knees and easy to clean.

I am using restaurant floor mats cut to size and fit. Got them for free because they were being replaced. Most times I can wash the bed out without removing the mats. Semi soft rubber and they seem to hold everything in place. I have one under my aux tank for some cushioning.

ssunit1; Thats the best idea for a mat I've seen. I like that you still get air flow between the bed and mat with plenty of protection. Winner Winner Chicken Dinner !! lol ..
