Its over 100 at home. Just stepped off my train in San Jose, nice 88 degrees here. Not looking forward to my trip back in an hour and back to the 100+ in sacto.
Hope everybody is managing to stay cool with this heat wave.
I am appalled at the lack of communication in our government offices.... First the VA who does not communicate within their own departments. Now, I find out the DMV does not communicate within their own departments. Registration doesn't communicate with licensing, and neither of them communicate with the disabled placard department. You would think communication within the same organization, or departments would be the number one rule, to simplify things, and make it easier for everyone. Apparently the US Government feels otherwise. I had not receive my disabled placard for the next two years, and i know they are mailed out early. So I went to the Clovis DMV this morning at around 9:30am. Found out that just because my new license was sent to my recent address doesn't mean my placard was. So, I waited until 12:30 before they finally called my ticket number, and she gave me a new one in less than a minute... I took care of my license renewal and my car registration renewal online so I would not have to go to a DMV office ever again, but forgot about the placard. Hopefully, now that they too have my new address, it can all be done online in 2019.
Still fighting with the VA. Nobody can tell me who is taking the money, but they can tell me it is being taken. (No kidding, it is not showing up in my bank, so I know you are taking it.) Contacted my senator, but their office is so back logged with cases, they have not even reached mine yet. With all this non communication going on within our government offices, it does not surprise me that the senator's office is back logged...
My VA liaison is taking me to the local VSO office today at 12:30 to see if we can get this VA mess straightened out. Well, that is optimistic, even if we find the culprit, knowing how inefficient the VA is it may still take awhile for the problem to be resolved.
Well, at least now i know why they are taking my VA check. It is indeed from an education debt I had back in 1985. I failed the transmission class, and because of that I owe them the money they paid me to take the course. I am surprised it has taken them this long to come after me. I am sure had they sent me a bill back then I would have paid it off long ago. I still cannot believe they waited 32 years to do this. When I am on a limited income, and not back then when I was gainfully employed. So, we have filed for a hardship waiver to see if they will just waive the debt. I am sure the VA will not go broke if they don't get my $1,600.
Jim, I think if you took it to court that they have exceeded a statute of limitations of some kind. It doesn't seem right that they could go back that far. Heck, even the IRS only goes back 3-4 years.
Yeah, it makes no sense that they would come after me after 32 years. If they don't give me the waiver, then I will see about the statue of limitations. This is ridiculous.
