Problems shifting gears

Have a 1997 7.3 with e4od that I just bought couple months ago and was having problems shifting but would still drive just hard shifts and speedo wasn't working so I changed vss sensor and worked for a while then speedo stopped but would still work again then truck sat for about 2 weeks cuz the plug in the back of motor o ring went out so leaked oil like crazy. So when I got that fixed and went to drive it again the truck wouldn't shift pass 2nd so checked tone ring and it had came off so I replaced that still nothing. Replaced mlps. Dropped the pan changed transmission filter check solenoids all seem to click when hooked to power 2 of them took a little bit to start clicking but eventually did so cleaned everything up put it all back together and still hasn't changed. Limped it at 25mph about 15 miles to transmission shop to have codes pulled and obi port has power to it but he couldn't get anything else to connect to it and I'm at a lose on what else it could be besides stuck valve.

Check all your brakes lights (including the third brake light). Does your cruise work?

Yup all the brakes work. The cruise hasn't worked since I bought the truck.

Find somewhere that has a scan tool that can connect to it. Fixing this without getting the codes is going to be hard and expensive.

That could mean a failed PCM.

standard scanner might not work, these use a different protocol

Great. How do I check to see if PCM has failed? Ya the transmission shop tried couple different scanners anf all got same thing.

Use the communication in the profile
SAE J1850-PWM
make sure you add in Ford PIDs

people like it cause it will pull codes, buzz test and CCT
Warning, Some OLD PCM's have to be flashed before you can pull codes
Find out your IPR% duty at idle, when its too high it means your injector orings are shot.
