5.4L XLT Exhaust replacement

exhaust I want

want to remove this exhaust pipe

ugly exhaust

I know this is not the truck I would of purchased so I didn't ... I got it in a trade. I drive a F250 6.0 and got this 2000 Excursion in a trade for an old explorer....I just wanted it because it was big and on a superduty frame.

I enjoy running my 4 boys around in it and decided to keep it and make it presentable....just wont open the hood for anyone haha

My question is ..... I want to delete this ugly exhaust sticking out of the back of the truck....and replace it with a simple side exhaust and tip.....has anyone done this and can I use a pre-fabbed walker exhaust pipe or will I just need to saw zaw of the one on there and weld an l bend pipe out of the side of the truck .... any help is appreciated

Also the bumper is bent....I am going to drop it and assume I can either bend back the support brackets or replace them??

Yes you can I went the DIY and bought the pipe and clamps from Autozone here's a pic. I also removed the muffler it's straight pipe from cat back sounds mean. I had to remove the SPD Y pipe as the wife caught a semi tire on the road destroying the y pipe, fortunately my local junkyard had everything needed.

And yes we also have a bent rear bumper lol...

Perfect and better than what I found in the above pics....by chance do you happen to what parts you had to purchase from autozone? I want to do the same set up as you did but I'm in the military out of the US, and want to order the parts online so there home waiting on my arrival....is it all clamps or will I have to cut the original exhaust??

It was just an 18"? 3" exhaust pipe with flange I'll post some part # for you tomorrow, the exhaust clamps were purchased thru eBay.

Looking good. It's always prudent to have a second vehicle standing by when you own a 6.0.

Finished it

Got the bumper aligned and cut the pipe and added a tip....not perfect but I'm happy with the results and sound. Not bad for an old heavy truck.
