SHOP TIP - HANDS
Up until about a month ago I was having difficulty using my hands - They were so cracked and dried that I would start bleeding if I bent them, even trying to pick up a fork. - I have been trying different brands of soap including those pump bottled liquid stuff that left you smellin like a French House of Ill Repute
I was stuck in the house for a few weeks, Fibromyalgia , and I was out of soap and blue jeans so I grabbed one of the bottles of Fast Orange hand cleaner and started using it and within a couple of weeks my hands started clearing up - I found out that they have a non-pumice type that I am now using all the time with my hands - No cracks at all - No blood
Just a tip that might help you

here's something else to use... I have the same problem, especially in Winter...
I use this stuff religiously O'Keef's working hands lotion... best stuff I've ever found... they also have a foot creme that is outstanding

My tip- GLOVES.
I've been working on cars professionally for 35 years- started wearing gloves in 1998.
No cracked hands, my hands are always clean...
I started using them because as a flat rate technician- it was faster to change gloves before taking a car out of the shop, or moving into the interior of a customer car- than it was to go into the shop bathroom to clean my hands.
I soon realized the benefits of having clean hands all the time...

I used to work at my dad's print shop, and he had a Go-Jo like product to remove ink from your hands (if you think grease is hard to get off...) It was made from sugar beets and left my hands smooth as a baby's rear. Wish I knew what it was.

I find my hands can get the same with the solvents in the bodyshop and shop but my preferred solution is after a few minuits in the shower coat my hands with vaseline rub it in good and then wash it off with soap . It works well for me .

My hands are like cow hide but they used to crack around the knuckles and bleed. Now I use Vaseline petroleum jelly and haven't had problems for over 20 years. Everything with chemicals and scents just made them worse. If its good enough for a babies butt its good enough for my hands.

Soap does nothing but degrease your skin, and, as you've found out, dries your skin out. Use a barrier cream, a decent hand cleanser, then a moisturiser afterwards. Sounds a ballache, but beats the hell not being able to use your hands. I also used to struggle with gloves, but have found a fantastic brand called Tiger grip. Absolutely brilliant things.
