My son has a 1971 F100 RWD. The engine has been swapped to a 351 by a previous owner. It came stock with a 302.
We're replacing bad leaf spring bushings and the local parts stores say a Moog SB 253 is the correct bushing. It's not....it's too small outside diameter. The length and bolt size (inner diameter) are correct though.
The old bushing is about 1 3/8" or maybe 1 7/16" outside diameter (I'm measuring with a tape measure - not very accurate).
I suppose a previous owner may have swapped rear-ends also. It has a 9" rear end.
Is there any easy way to find out what vehicle this came out or what part I need to get to replace the leaf spring bushings?
I went to a trailer/suspension shop and got some 110 bushings. Not sure if that translates to a auto part or what it fits. It fits pretty good in the leaf springs in my son's truck.
The guy at the suspension shop said the auto parts places may carry just the most common bushing from that era, while not having all the options.
I think the option for the 110 bushings was for some comfort ride option or longer leaf springs? I don't remember what his book said, but it seemed to be an option in that year.
