Leaf Spring problems

Hello fellow truckies,

I have a 1995 F-150 4x4. I noticed last week that my spring hangars were just about rusted in half, so I went to the local new and used and got me a set to install, well on the drivers side front of the rear spring the bolt seized in the bushing, so I burnt it out with the torch after ordering the new bushing at the parts store only to find out that it is the wrong bushing, part # B344 I believe from Clevite. The problem is this... I bought the truck used, cant identify any numbers on the springs to know if they are factory or aftermarket, and even if they are factory, all the front bushings for 1/2, 3/4, and full ton are the same. Can anyone help me with this one? the whole for the bushing is about a 1/4" in diameter bigger than the ordered factory bushing. I would be glad to sit in a parts store and search through their inventory, but they do not stock leaf spring bushings. I would like to get the truck back together ASAP because of my bass boat sitting next to the truck instead of in the water. All help is GREATLY apprecitated.

Josh

Go to a shop that repairs /replaces leaf springs. They can sell you everthing you need and figure out what bushings you need. Sometimes it is easier to replace the shackle with the bushings already in place.

Energy Suspension has two listings for polyurethane bushings for your truck depending on the type of bushing it has. There is one with a molded in rubber bushing and one that has a metal shell around the rubber. Maybe that is the size difference. I know if I was replacing bushings I would use polyurethane. They hold up a lot better.

I appreciate that velcro, come to find out after a few man hours of research, the bushing I need is that of the front spring from a late model F-250 with an OD of 1 7/8". Even the dealer was stumped but the local spring and driveshaft guy told me that he had seen this only one other time where someone takes the main spring from the front of an F250 and replaces the main rear in the 150, I ordered the part from the dealer, price jumped from $7 a bushing to $32 a bushing, I will let you all know what happens when the part gets here in the morning and also post the part number for future reference in case this happens to any of my fellow truckies on this wonderful site of information.
