I'm sure this has been covered on here because I've heard about them leaking before. But using the lackluster search option didn't yield any results.
My father in law bought a 2015 f150 ex cab about a month ago. Part of the purchase was replacing the windshield due to a crack. The dealer had a contractor do the replacement. They seemed very knowledgeable, and told him the windshield had been out before because the windshield was tinted and the tint wrapped past the sealant. Fast forward a week later, he got in the truck after a heavy rain and the drivers side floor board was standing in water. He called the people that replaced it, and they said they were confident in their sealing of the windshield, but bring it to their shop and they would find the leak. It took them a while, but they finally got it to leak by applying the hose at just the just angle at the top left corner. They pulled the windshield, and found a very fine crack in the metal. They sealed it up good, and reinstalled windshield. Now, 2 weeks later, it come a monsoon. Afterwards, he opens the door and floor board is dry. He's headed to the campground and pulls truck forward with the camper. He runs back inside to get something and when he gets back in water is gushing in we're the kick panel and kick plate meet. The a puller must have been full of water just waiting to spill out. He doesn't think the tiny crack that they sealed up is the culprit. He is taking the truck back to the dealer after vacation, but do you guys know of any notorious places they leak? He thinks this may have been an existing problem because it's pretty obvious the kick panel and carpet had been pulled back before. Any links to other threads are welcomed.
This is the first I've heard of or read of this here. Is the any indication that the truck has been damaged or wrecked and repaired? This could be the reason the previous owner traded it.
Car fax showed no wrecks. Sure shows no signs of repair. The truck is flawless. If you YouTube it, you can find multiple accounts of it, and I found some threads on here of superdutys leaking.
No sunroof. We returned from vacation today. He is going to get it in to the dealer. It's came several big rains in the last few days. Truck is dry. Crazy. Has to be sitting just right.
My Super Duty had the leak problem. It was due to an improperly installed sun roof drain tube. That was the only common leak problem I could find. There were some instances of GPS antenna and clearance lights leaking but those were due to damage. The previous generation F150 had a problem with the 3rd brake light gasket.
