Why does my truck run better with the MAP sensor unplugged

Being his first posts, maybe he's embarrassed? Once someone has been here a while, we aren't embarrassed any more at mistakes- heck, we post up videos and pics! LOL

It's how we learn and share info. Best wishes to that fellow
did you get yours resolved. Mine is doing same. I replace map sensor and exhaust back pressure sensor. Still no luck. I think pcm may be bad
You might have better luck by starting a new thread detailing your issue. The folks around here will jump in with suggestions.
But I’ll also try tagging @jimjokjv in case he is no longer subscribed to this thread.
Zoom in? That is not a 7.3 liter, it is a 6.0! This is the 7.3 liter section of the forum. Perhaps you were not aware of what section you were in?
New Castle is a good choice.
Splashing bile? I have been very polite and started leaning toward being very direct in my last post. This is who I am. I am a retired Senior NCO and being direct is a way of life for me.
This is an adult conversation, and I have been wrong many times, just ask my wife. An adult can admit when they are wrong and move on with it and learn from it. Some one saying they are neither wrong nor right in a matter such as this, well that is wrong.
I do realize that I do not have to reply to your posts. But, again I have an obligation as a contributing member of FTE to provide factual and relevant information in the thread. It is a shame that this thread has gone so far off track from a MAP sensor problem, but it is what it is.
My intent is not to prove you wrong, my intent is to set the record and information in this thread straight.
THERE IS NO EGR VALVE ON THE 7.3 LITER DIESEL!
@Sous I am so glad you posted this... 6 years later this thread is paying for itself.... after reading the first couple of posts I followed the link to the youtube video of the "EGR" cleaning and was like yes something I can do to help my truck. I would have been heavily confused if I had not seen your rejoinder. Not that my truck is running bad, but I have nothing to compare it to... so I am constantly thinking is it OK or not??? I have no major codes, only the dog gone VSS and the lack of CC on button... still waiting to tackle that when its warm enough and I am sober... but reading this thread has taught me a lot (yes Marines know how to read), and now i have one less worry... searching for a non existent unicorn part, on a unicorn truck overseas is one of my nightmare scenarios...
Ken
yes that was my first thought until it was shown that mine is a 99.5 that and attempting to engage it (same buttons as my F150) did not work no matter what was tried. Sous was helping me walk through testing the system using forscan when the CC test showed that when the "ON" button was pushed, the switch was not making contact. all other buttons and switches worked properly. Possible areas to investigate are the switch itself, the clockspring, and the wiring in the column.
cheers
Ken
