I would argue the turbo is NOT working fine. And for the record you just got snotty with one of the most knowledgeable people on the 6.0L diesel and you will be lucky to find anyone to help you now. Good luck to you.
I suggest you read my post then his post again . I will not take an attitude from anyone . It's that simple . I don't care what they know.

Damn dude, calm down. he asked why you couldn't go to a local auto store to read the codes sooner than monday. That right there would tell us if the turbo or connector is bad. No one is saying it came unplugged or that unplugging is the only way it isn't working.
You're acting like a typical engineer, stop that. I'd really like to help you but not if you're going to come with an attitude.
There are a few ways that you can smoke black which is unburnt fuel. 1-you are not making enough boost (VGT not plugged in or unison ring is stuck/rusted to housing) 2- CAC boots are ripped or torn 3- exhaust leak at manifolds or uppipe bellow 4- plugged MAP hose or EBP sensor 5- an injector is dumping fuel into the cylinder from a broken nozzle
That's why the engine codes are needed that helps as a starting point
My first post was sincere and cordial. I completely read what you posted. You said you don't know computer based systems well so WHO KNOWS WHAT YOU KNOW ABOUT GETTING CODES READ. Sounded like to me you were waiting to go to a shop. The encouragement to go to an autoparts store was also sincere. With the 6.0L you have to have information or you will waste a lot of money. Posting without information might get you responses, but they will be guesses at best.
Your response to my first post, on the other hand, was condescending .. so you got the crystal ball comment.
Enough about -
Again - these engines are complicated, and codes and live engine data are essential to good troubleshooting.
... and yes - the connector is prone to breakage from the heat.
lol - you're the one that needs help. I am sure someone will take pity on you.
LOL, ummm...yes, I obviously need help determining what the problem is with my truck, however, unlike you, I do NOT need help with my reading comprehension skills.
Also, I suggest that when you try to be sarcastic by prefacing a comment with "lol", you put it in capitol letters as I just did as it tends to have a greater affect.

Wow you're off the chain. I'm out of this one. Best of luck.

Read the tech folder. Find the post with the 6.0 bible it will help identify what and where things are on the engine. My first thought is as Bismic posted is the VGT plugged in. Find the turbo in the middle of the valley under the plastic wire loom harness attached to the firewall cowl there is a pigtail on top of the turbo.
Codes will definitely help so if you do have to wait till Monday then you have time to read the folder.
Welcome to FTE.
Bismic is only trying to help he's one of the best when it comes to the 6.0 and diagnosing problems
I just looked and saw a two wire harness going up the front of the turbo with a black pig tail on it which is plugged into something mounted to the top of the turbo.
The turbo also has a lot of dirt on the front that looks moist like it is stuck to oil . I have read about the seals going out on these and leaking oil into the engine, is it possible that it could also leak a faint mist onto the front of the turbo?
The turbo starts making a little boost at around 1800 rpm if I remember correctly and it continues to build boost with rpm just like every other turbo engine I have driven which is why I speculated that it is working properly, however, even though this plug is connected, I guess that the part it is connected to still may be bad . If this is the case I would think there might be some way to test it.
I will also check out the section of the forum you suggested.
Thanks again.
PS - Thank you for the welcome, it is much appreciated!
