F-250 5.8 E4oD wont shift to 3rd
Just got my license last Wednesday. This day was long awaited as I have been working on my truck for a full year. I had an exhaust manifold spit so Sunday I began applying an Acetone ATF mix to the Driver's side manifold bolts. Tried to take the truck to the parts store yesterday, and to my surprise it wouldn't shift into 3rd. She'd get to 2nd the RPMs would climb, it would try to shift, and then they would fall back down. It drive fine in 2nd and 1st. I was getting code 633 which has to do with the 4x4... Please help I've already pult $3k into this truck and I don't want to driver my sisters Lesbaru Forever.

Here's something to give you some ideas.
Was it shifting ok before it sat?
Congrats on your driver license. I just got mine renewed this morning.
Don't try to drive it until you fix something. You could cause permanent damage if something mechanical is wrong.

How do you know it's failing to shift into 3rd? If you're at low-to-moderate throttle, a 2-3 shift may not be very noticeable. RPM rising, then falling is exactly what should happen. The RPM will rise, the transmission shifts, and then the RPM drops.

This thread has some pages from a service manual. It has some troubleshooting info for your problem.

If your 4wd switch has failed on your t-case and the trans thinks that your t-case is in 4lo then it will never shift up.
Since your a new driver,is the 4x4 and lo range lights on? If so,shift into 2wd and the trans will shift normally again. Please don't take offense to that.None is intended.Could be an easy mistake.
Congrats on the drivers license. That's a big day in all our lives right there.Drive responsible! I sure didn't lol.
