Trailer Camera-slack

Finally got to install the camera on the back of my goose-neck trailer and run the cable all the way back to the front. do questions:

1) for the GN/ 5th Wheel crowd: how much slack to you guys leave in the front? if i'm almost jackknifed i would need several extra feet. Do you have some slack coiled up in the bed?i was thinking about some retractable reel...to hold the cable. Any other ideas?

2)My camera will be out in the sun/rain all year long. Should i get some sort of cover?

I ran mine on my 5th wheel (35 ft) and matched the excess cable up with my 5th wheel cable.

As for the camera, my only suggestion would be to make / buy a cover for it, or just take the 2 screws out, unplug the camera, and take it off while not in use if you are worried about the weather getting to it. JMO.

I forgot to mention, I also moved my 12 pin connection from the bumper to the in-bed hook up.

Maybe describing how you have the cable run would help.

Mine gets here tomorrow and I planned to just run it out the pin box, no added slack or coils in the bed as the pin box is the pivot point and only moves 1-2 foot when turned fully (jackknifed). Also since I was going with the nichols in bed connector box (and have both connectors in the bed, I was just going to zip tie the trailer umbilical to the TPMS/Camera cord.

However if you are planning to run it to the bumper like the dealer/factory assume and probably put your plug there, then I'm not sure what to tell you as there is a chance on sharp turns to get the wire "stuck" on the corner of your bed and pull you slack, if not conector out.
