New here; not sure if this is where you put this post, but I have a serious question. I have a 1985 f250. It had a 351w that blew up so I got a 460 big block. However, I am having a few malfunctions. My engine mounts off the 351 don't match up to put on the 460 and the 460 mounts won't work for the 351. And I can't switch the mounting plates themselves between the trucks. Anyone know what I can do or get to make this motor go into this truck appropriately?
Thanks.
Thanks Dave. I have heard that people that do this usually get a fuel filter relocation kit. It would be nice if I could have just switched the front cross member out between the two trucks but the other is a bronco and it's longer than what I need.
Just came in front the garage. Just pulled the motor. The f250 looks like it wasn't meant for a manual transmission and the one that just so happens to be connected to the 460 is a 4 speed manual. I have to find a clutch assembly for the pedals that will fit cause I can't the one in there to work. Plus I am at the moment running into problems with the rod that goes through the floor for the mechanical clutch. At the moment, where the frame is, the rod would either come up where the throttle pedal is or if you face it the other way, one the other side where my brake pedal is right now. Again in the wrong spot.
I sure when others get up they can help answer your questions.
What are the models, tranys and years of the 2 trucks?
Somewhere they switched to hydraulic clutch but my thinking is if you have a full setup you should be able to swap it as a whole.

The truck the 460 came from is a 1979 Bronco and the other is a 1985 f250 which I am putting it into. I have everything I need for a mechanical clutch already, it's just crossing everything over to the f250 where I am running into issues. Also I have limited funding so the go buy stuff option is nearly out for me. I can rig where the spring on the clutch goes and maybe the rod that goes through the floor board. I know I have to buy a plate for the clutch pedal mount and a relocation kit for my oil filter. And again the issue with the mounting brackets for the engine. Everything else beside fitting the motor into my current housing bay, I can account for.
Or, you can get the right perches from a truck with a 460 at the salvage, although it is a lot of work. Anyway, thoughts on swaps are here: Engine Swaps - ???Gary's Garagemahal.

No Bronco of any year came with a 460, so it was swapped in.
460 not available with a M/T or 4WD until 1983.
You will need to determine if the 460 is internally or externally balanced.
