having a big problem with the mounts for my 460,i did get lucky an get the frame mounts off a truck at a local salvage yard,it had the entire settup, but my silly -ss didn't get the mounts that went to the block, been reading up on this an know i here that they have 3 pieces,ok,my lmc catalog is only showing one part number an part#45-0342,an it doesn't look like it is gonna mount to the frame mounts at all, does any one have some pics of what i have to have or where can i get what i need,oh yeah my truck is a 77 2wd.thanks..........................
I just bought a set of motor mounts for a 77 F150 2wd with a 460 for mine from Pep-Boys when I converted it over. They hooked right up to the 460 frame mounts that I bought used.
Did you get the exhaust manifolds too? The truck ones are different and the passenger side car manifold will hit the frame.
The 460 frame mounts have a hole on either end that a long bolt goes thru from front to rear to hold the motor mount on.
yes i got the manifolds, but i'm using headers, thnks for the reply yes i have the frame mounts, are the mounts from pepboys the 3 piece ones?Or are the just a simple bolt to block and the long bolt through th frame mount, then what is that is should in the Lmc catalog?

Lx Man, and Big Block Ford. Hold on a second fellows. Your both talking about 2 different things. Big Block Ford is talking a bout a mount like an FE or small block has. A mount that just bolts to the motor and goes directly in to the frame mount. LxMan is talking about an actual 460 type mount that looks a lot like the pictures in my gallery. Lxman, there technicaly are three pieces to get a 429/460 bolted down to a frame. There is the metal motor stand that bolts directly to the frame. The second piece is a ruber insulator that bolts to the stand. Then finally you have a 3rd piece which is the metal motor mount that actualy bolts to the motor and to the rubber insulator. Big Block Ford, please understand that LMC Truck is not one of this sites sponsors that allow it to keep running to better inform all of us on things like these motor stands. Quite honestly, they are not even a good source of reference. Try to call them some time and ask them a question like you did on here. They are not actual enthusiasts. They are simply order takers. With that being said, the piece that they are probably showing you is the rubber piece that goes between the motor mount and the motor stand. Keep scrounging the wrecking yards til you find this mount. It's way cheaper than L&L, bolts in just as easy, and it's just as reliable. I have to agree with Lxman, this set up has given me many trouble free miles. Let me know if there is anything else that I can help you with. These big block conversions can be smooth as silk, and very inexpensive or they can be a real nightmare and get super expensive. It all depends on how much knowledge you have as you do it.
hey, thanks bro i found the mounts at the pep-boys website, the only thing is they are saying it is a universal type mount an the do not show a pic, does anyone have a pic of the mount u are talking of?
docholiday is right, the mount that bolts to engine is actually called a "cup".Wouldn't swear to it but I think FORD calls the rubber mount between "cup" and "stand" is called "insulator".Don't have a pic,but engine mount looks like engine mount on GM.
You may be right Doc, It's been a few years since I intsalled the engine and I only remember the frame mounts and the motor mounts that I bought new. I don't remember completeing a puzzle to install the engine to the mounts.
My engine came out of a 77 Lincoln Mark V.
Lxman, Check out the post from srd4x4. The factory stuff is 3 piece. The stand, the insulater, and cup. I think when you buy the aftermarket type mount, the cup and insulator actualy come in one piece. This would mean factory stuff = 3 pieces, aftermarket = 2 pieces. It's easy to see how we all were confused. I'll try to get buy pep boys myself to look at the mount. I already know what the factory mount looks like. I can look at theirs and see what they have and repost so that we will all know for sure. Lxman, I didn't realy complete a puzzle to put mine toghether either. My engine came from a 70 model F100, but was origionaly from an 83 model van. The guy that put the engine in the truck from the van found some factory stuff at the wrecking yard from a 75 model to get the engine in to the truck. I bought the whole truck. When I pulled the engine from the 70, all I did was take the one long bolt out that goes from top to bottom. This left the insulator and cup on the engine, and the stand on the frame. I changed my FE stands out for the 385 series stand, and set the engine right back down in my truck. I didn't realy want to buy a whole truck, but the 460 and c6 had about 2000 miles on a rebuild, and everything to make it a bolt in instalation for my truck other than exhaust pipes was already there. I gave $600 for the truck. I paid another maybe $400 between getting the exhaust hooked up, accessory brackets (didn't like the van brackets they looked odd ball. bought regular truck brackets), and a set of headers, and then all the little odd and end things, like belts, nuts and bolts. I don't think I did too bad. Bigblockford, other than motor mounts, what else do you need to know about your instalation?
Gubni, With all due respect, that site does not support this site. Also, if you look at the price they want to charge for a conversion and actualy do some copetitive pricing, you will see that they are outragously expensive. One last thing, they have the picture up there of a motor mount failure. The picture is mis leading. The factory mounts have been in some of the trucks running around for about 30 years.

So are you saying L&L does support this site? I was just pointing out how much cheaper they are than L&L with the fact that they have a much better design. I used them to convert a 351M in a 4wd to a 460. It may be different for a 2wd.
