I have what sounds like a faint bell ringing out of my front end. Only happens while in motion, and seems to be when I'm coasting and not under load. I'd have to double check that, but thats when I feel like I hear it, could just be because the engine noise is lower while coasting. Nothing is loose down there as I tightened up all the steering. front bearings seem tight when I put it on a lift. Any ideas or prior incidents of this?
I would remove the belt and check all the idlers, alternator and water pump pulleys by spinning them for a start. Maybe even a bad belt, inspect it if old.
Or, maybe your kids dropped a bell in the valley just to annoy you.
I had a weird ringing when passenger window was down on my the toy sienna, anyways...I left socket in the passenger caliper from compressing it during a brake job and the right bump would make is spin inside causing a ringing noise.
did it for a year until I did brakes on it again and found it inside with all numbers worn off
It could literally be anything. I would have someone jump on the front bumper while you're under the truck to see if you can at least narrow down where it is coming from.
Finally solved this issue. there is a compression plate where the two drive shafts connect that is loose and spins. When you slow down the two plates that are not connected tightly will keep spinning making the ringing noise. I have to take the drive shaft off to fix, so for now it will have to ring away.
