Lots of tranny problems

Found this in an old thread talking about the E4OD maybe it'll help.
"You need to be sure that the converter is not the main cause of the fluid leak. My 93 bronco 5.8 did the same thing (while running/driving). Turns out that the cause was the OEM converter clutches were slipping and caused the oil to overheat badly. That in turn (when hot oil built up enough pressure) caused the oil to blow past the front converter seal. Was a stream of fluid, not a drip--. A friend (ford mechanic) told me what probably happened and said that after it cooled down, the seal would probably retract and hole oil pressure again, which it did until I could round up parts.
Replace the converter, no need to get high bux one for most use, Dacco or similar. Make sure it has LUK clutches, I think most now have that. While tranny is out, replace the rear main seal (if a one piece seal) and replace the front converter seal in the case. Good time to do mild shift kit while its down. I went with a Baumann, it has worked very well. BTW---I had no friends to help, did it by myself--in the backyard. The bronco is also a 4X4. Hows that for a NS story!!"
