So I drove my truck yesterday helping my brother move for the upteenth time and when I got home and parked the truck I saw that I had a drop of fluid on the slab under the tranny. I got down under the truck and the whole tranny pan is coverd in tranny fluid and it look to be coming from the weep hole at the bottom of the inspection plate on the trans. I don't know alot about these trannys E4od so did I loose a seal in there or what?
I have a 92 150 5.8/E4od/1356bw I am at a loss any help would be grate.
If the fluid is coming out of the bell housing there's a 99% chance it is the front seal in the transmission.
The trans has to come out to replace it, and I'll tell you right now that E4OD is one heavy son-of a-gun.. Don't try it without a transmission jack!!!!

That is what I was afraid of so I guess it is coming out in the next week or so and while Im there I think I will do the rear Main Seal as well.
Should I replace the Converter to or would it be Ok as it is?Should I Do one of these 2800 stall converters or what would you recomend? I drive it on the weekends and to the dump and hunting, it is NOT my daily driver so Just Asking.
Thanks for the help.Happy Trucking
The reason I ask is, transmission rebuilders have told me that it's a good idea to replace the torque converter support bushing behind the front seal on higher-mile trannies, as sometimes it wears to the point that the seal can't do its job. YMMV

I wouldn't go 2800 stall. I have ordered a Saturday night special torque maximizer converter from TCI. It has a 2000 stall.
Depending on what exactly the truck was doing at the time I'd check out the cooling fans clutch, make sure it actually works especially if it doesn't appear to leak now.
Time spent on the "move" doing slow/low speed maneuvering under load conditions around building/house/in yard with no real run down the road time then and it leaked, back to "normal" use/duties now and doesn't leak.
Well I have 130,151 miles on the truck.
And when I was doing the move we ran about 35 miles at 60mph 3 times total of 105 miles and then the 20 mile drive home at 55.
I have pulled the trans and the seal is the problem and I have gotten it in, now I have to put it all back together. I did replace the rear main while I was in there. I also put in a new fly wheel and replaced the converter with a Pro Stock 2000 Stall. it was more suited for my type of driving. I Also put in a mild shift kit at this time and replaced all my fluids with the AMS oils and luberication products. I hope that I will get better mileage and more power out of it all when I am done. I will let you all know how it runns in the next day or so. Happy Trucking.
