I have had my 2000 F-250 PSD for about 4 months now and it just turned 100000 miles. I recently bought a superchips microtuner with a diagnostics reader. My truck pulled a code P0470. I was wondering if anyone could help me the location of the EBP sensor and if was critical to fix or not. All replys are appreciated.
On my '01, the sensor is located on the end of a tube coming off the right exhaust manifold. It is to the right of the alternator as you are looking at the engine from the front. You will see the sensor with the plug and wires straight up.
Thanks Mueckster but I see no tube or sensor coming off of the right manifold. I looked all around the alternator and the only thing i see is a tube with a coupler threaded into the top of the right(drivers side) head. This sensor is driving me up the wall
Hell I must have looked at that sensor 20 or 30 times and didn't even see the tube running from the bottom of it to the exhaust manifold. Surprisingly it was that easy to take out . By the way Mueckster, does the EBP sensor play some kind of role in the performance of the engine or can i withold on replacing it quickly. Thanks again for your help!!!
I believe it regulates the opening of the EBP valve on the turbo exhaust outlet. I don't know what other things it might effect. I haven't any problems with my truck that require troubleshooting. If it runs OK until and when it reaches operating temp, I don't think you would have to be in a hurry to replace it.
As soon as you replace that you will notice that your truck has more turbo boost as this is the sensor that tells the turbo to open or close the exhaust wastegate, but it won't hurt anything as long as you watch your exhaust temp and keep it below 1200
