Today I had a coolant leak on my 02 5.4 that went away. I was sitting in a parking lot waiting for an appointment with the truck running and AC on. When I got out I smelled antifreeze, popped the hood but couldn't see a leak anywhere. Also smelled it only on the driver side. So I shut the hood and went inside to my appointment. I came back out roughly 30 minutes later and there was a big puddle of coolant. Popped the hood and it looked like it was coming from the lower radiator hose around the housing on the engine. So I let it cool off, put some water in it to see if I could get it home. It hasn't leaked since. The truck never overheated either.
It's bone dry now and I can't find any sign of a leak. Where could it have come from? I don't see the water pump weep hole leaking either but really couldn't get under it to check. I depend on this truck for work, soon as I get a million miles away from home it's guaranteed to bust loose.
