I haven't heard anything solid from Superchips as far as a delivery date. The only thing solid from Superchips is that until further notice they have completely dropped support for all 2001+ Rangers, Mazda B-Series and Explorers.
I think I'm going to put the Whipple supercharger on it. I live in the hills and want/need alot more power than just the chip gives. Thank you for all of the info Ken.
Make sure the kit comes with a chip and get it dyno'd to verify the A/F ratio. Sounds like a hell of a lot of money to throw at a 3.0! Would have been better to pay the extra $650 for the 4.0!
I had a 3.0 years ago and worked for Ford for 12 years. I really like the reliability of the 3.0. I worked on to many 4.0 tensioners and other problems to risk buying one. How much HP is realistic with a Diablo chip on a 3.0?
Hi, I am new to this so not sure what to do. I have a 2002 Ranger Travllers Edition and have been having problems with it the past year. It has been on the computers and is not picking anything up. It keeps "bucking" almost like it is ready to stall, as well keeps losing power. I had one mechanic actually say that there is something wrong but not sure what. Others have said it is in my head. And since I am a girl.. THey just wont answer my questions. Hoping you can help. And would appreciate it if you email me back. Thanking you in advance.. Dalas
Go to your nearest Autozone auto parts store and ask them to "read OBD2 codes" from your Ranger. They do this for free. Write down those codes and post them here. We'll help diagnose the problem with those codes.
The 3.0L takes to chipping extremely well, in part because we've been able to get a lot of tuning tweaks done for it over the years and also because it has a lot of untapped potential.
The 2000 and back 3.0L puts out about 16-17HP with a chip, 2001+ tends to do slightly better.
Ken, can I get a Granetelli MAF and a chip from you? Will you program the chip for the MAF or does Diablo? Also, for a MSF3 code, how long do you think it will take for Diablo to have the programming on that? I can't have downtime to send you the ECM. Thanks.
We can supply the chip. We have Diablo blanks here that we program.
As to how long, it could be tomorrow, it could be 10 years. It all depends on when someone out there decides to let a Diablo dealer read their computer. Once that's done all our us have access to the base code.
