The other day I was riding in a friend's F-150 and noticed his AC power point is rated for 400 watts. In my PS SD, it is only rated for 150. I thought this was a "Super Duty"?? Both of our trucks are 2016.
Any insight as to why this is? What do you guys use this plug for? I imagine you can't do a whole lot with 150 watts.
I have been thinking upgrading mine to 500W. So far no one has been able to tell me where the stock inverter is located in my Truck. We use ours mainly to charge our Laptop Computer on the road.
The wire leading to the inverter are miniscule. As a result, the 150 watt rated inverter probably delivers a lot less than the 150 watts. Wires certainly would not support a larger inverter.

Agreed, 150 peak for short time with 75-100 continuous maybe. Assuming the things are 95% efficient 150w would be a constant 11Amp draw at 14.4v, that would be pushing it for 18awg and in the upper side for 16awg wiring on the dc side
Thanks Cangim: I plugged a 100watt lamp into my 150W receptacle and it lit completely. The 110V port was probably designed for recharging cell phones or laptops which I have used it for. I'm going to mount a Higher Wattage Inverter under the Back Seat and Controlled via an Upfitter switch and Relay.
