Hmmm....can't seem to find the right filter....

I ordered a filter for a 239 1950 f1 but to my surprise it was about half as tall as the one I took out. The number on the existing filter has p55-0117 fz but came up blank online.

Any help identifying what the filter is would be much appreciated. Searched around on line for a while but could find anything close looking for various years of fords,

Old vs new m47 filter!

Are you in Canada? Is your truck a Canadian truck? I believe Canadian Ford trucks had larger oil filters than US trucks. Maybe that is where the issue lies.

Canadian filters were different, apparently a result of some military requirement. Some Canadian engines were also full-flow.

For the Canadian bypass type filter, NAPA #1021 is the one:

If you have some Tee-looking pieces in your oil lines, you could have the full-flow system:

Gentlemen, thank you very much. Yes, it is a Canadian truck. I searched for mercury parts in Canada but still came up with just the small one. I was beginning to think they put in a aftermarket oil filter of some kind. Maybe should have started my search at Crappy Tire.

There is no T. Just the inlet in the bottom of the reservoir.

So I checked around in Canada. Can't order at Crappy Tire online (as least not older than 62). NAPA Canada doesn't show Mercury Trucks but will sell me a F1 shorty filter. Carquest doesn't take online orders. Some random Canada car parts site would only show me oil filter wrenches but recognized the Mercury M-47.

I have never tried to find parts there (live on the border so I just buy them US side) but man, are Canucks ever missing out!

Actually I think it highlights the difficulty of trying to find common parts in canada. Even nationally recognized auto parts retailers don't seem to recognize the Canadian vehicles they are supplying parts for.

The inlet is actually on the side, the drain is on the bottom.

The NAPA filter is actually made by WIX, as are the ones O'Reilly's sells. They should be able to cross-reference off the NAPA number.

This is what I used in my 52 M3. I hope this is more useful than the last info I gave. . Doug.

The actual Part number is P550117 That is a Donaldson number.

The AC delco number for this filter is P117F

Applicable Motorcraft numbers are EFL184, EFL213, EFL217, EFL269, EFL275, FL146, FL41, FL89

There is a listing for FL146's currently on Ebay. Looks to include all the gaskets and cover plate gasket.
