light on

I have a 06 superduty and found a squirrel nest above the passenger wheel in the engine compartment, the reason I looked under the hood is my ABS light was on. I then found the right sensor wire chewed in two. I soldered it back together but the ABS light is still on. Could a relay have been blown in the chewing process? I unhooked the battery's thinking it would reset but it did not even after driving. How do I get the light cleared?

Replace the sensor. Use ForScan and check for codes.

I would look again in the engine compartment. I had the same thing happen to my 05 back in 06. Damage was MUCH worse... had to have the whole engine harness replaced...but I was lucky, my comp insurance paid for it. A week later the damn squirrels were at it again but I caught them before much damage was done and repaired that myself. Had to strip and solder 2-3 wires.

You may want to run a check on codes too. It may tell you why the light is still on.

BPofMD, that sucks. I hope mine is not that bad! I have a scan gauge 11 but no codes shown. Is there a test I can do to the sensor? Volt/OHMS?

Some code readers are designed to read the abs codes. That's really what you need. It will usually be prominently displayed if it has that function unless it's a high end professional device. I guess they figure if you spend the big bucks you already know what it can do.
