Ever sence i baught my '96 bronco a fiew months ago the ABS light has been on and the system hasnt worked. in the Hayes manual it says "if the light fails to glow during a self test (when the truck starts) or fails to turn off (even momentarily) service the yellow light circuit prior to proceding (to pull the codes with a paperclip)" My light doesn't go off at all. Well i tried to get the codes anyways. Hayes tells you to jump pins E and B, but it doestn tell you which ones are E and B well i finally got the right combo i guess and it flashed 7 times.....3 times... and 2 times. i think i need some help with thease because codes 7,3, and 2 arn't even in hayes
check the wires that go to the speed sensors there should be one sensor for each front wheel and one at the diff for the back 90% of the time a wire is broken. to read codes there will be slow flashes then fast flashes ex. 2 slow flashes followed by 5 quick ones would be a code 25 i think it'll go through each code twice. i'd check the wires first. good luck!
I meant to post this yesterday but fte went down so here it is now.
Looking at the connector, with the row of 4 on the bottom and the row of 2 on the top, jump the pin in the row of two on the right and the one directly below it, turn on the ignition then pull out the jumper after 5 seconds, then count the flashes. I recommend having someone else pull it out in order to catch all the flashes. There are no single digit codes. Try pulling the codes again.
Assuming you missed the first digit, lets say it was a one as it would be easy to miss while moving to the abs light, then you have codes of 17 and 32.
17=Reference voltage/intermittent valve fault.
Check the 30amp fuse
32=Right front brake anti-lock sensor failure.
Check the connections to this sensor.
