ABS Light

Intermittently I get the abs light, havent pulled the codes. How likely is it the tone ring or just the sensor on the rearend?

Is it shifting crazy? It could just be a loose wire and the light is telling you which wheel or sensor is "faulty", so need to get it scanned....You could do that at the parts store while you're getting the VSS. I think they're real cheap anyway, but why waste the money??

My light was coming on intermittently and it was the sensor on the rear end. Mine would not come on during "in town" driving, only on the interstate during sustained 70 mph+ speeds if that helps. I hear tell the rear end sensors are fairly common so good chance that's it. Hope this helps!

Maybe Partsguyed can pop in and give us a generic price on a VSS. They used to be like 8 or 10 dollars???

Thats it to a "T". Once in a greatr while I will get it on a short trip. Pulled it and it was clean. Connector and wire covers had alot of water in them. Dried and coated with dielectric grease.

I am going to Ford for other things and will check on price.

You'll need part number F85Z*9E731*AB, which runs $18.45. This is the one for my truck and the quote I got.

I picked mine up at the stalership earlier in the day, 6L3Z-9E731-A 2006 F-250 XLT. Time will tell if it fixed that problem with the truck. Still working on other issues. 34,000 mi. and this truck is requiring alot of attention from my bank acct.
