ALL rear bumpers for pickups were optional thru at least 1979.
Ford never offered a step bumper for Flaresides (a stepside is a Chevrolet).
The only bumper available for 1957/72 Flaresides was a painted channel bumper (BBAA-17906-A) that LMC (#1 - 49-4950) is calling a step bumper (but it's not!). 2WD or 4WD made no difference.
Me and LMC use "stepside" as a description being my truck bed has steps on the side. Kinda like my open-ended-adjustable-wrench that I call my crescent wrench.
I'm not looking for a step-bumper, looking for a stepside bumper, just the plane-jane straight bumper. What's throwing me is that LMC say's their Ford stepside bumper is for a 2wd and not 4wd. Didn't seem there could be a difference between 2wd and 4wd versions.
As N.D. already Stated, & the man should know as he was a FoMoCo Parts Manager for more years than you have been alive, our "Orphan Years Trucks" are Known as "FLARESIDE" (as in flared fenders), Not By Any GM Name, & if N.D. states that that Bumper is What You Are Looking For, Then That Is What the Part is for Your Truck!!!!!
L.M.C. doesn't care what FoMoCo originally Named their Trucks!!!!!
They Only Care about Making a Profit, & if that Means that they Deliberately Mislabel or Misname our trucks or the parts for them, that's no skin off their noses.
The Only Thing They Care About is Profits & their Customer Care & Satisfaction is Abysmal!!!!!
If after asking for Our Collective Help, & When it is Given & YOU decide NOT to Take It, That's On You, Boy-o!!!!!
