1962 Rear Bumper Possibly Damaged During Shipping Question

I ordered this bumper from Macs about 1.5-2 years ago, and now I'm getting around to installing it.

Now I just have a question if this bumper possible got bent during shipping as it seems that my brackets I got from the junk yard do not seem to be long enough to install the bumper.
If i hold a string on the top along the back (the side that faces the rear of the pickup) of the bumper, there is a gap between the tight string and the center of the bumper of about 1.5-2 inches. Is the back of the bumper supposed to be flat or strait, or does it bend out like a said above?
I've been thinking this bend is why both ends of the bumper hit the back of my truck before its hitting my brackets. If the bend is supposed to be there maybe I need to lengthen my brackets. If anyone has a picture looking down the length of theirs that would be helpful
Thanks!
Do the brackets look straight? If the bumper is tweaked it's possible to re-shape.
Is the bumper bent? Can you show some pictures of what your describing?
Here is a picture of my pickup,
I am unable to get a photo currently for what I'm describing as the truck is 45 miles away. But it does have the earlier body style bed on it, and I'm 99% sure this is the correct bumper for my pickup. I just don't know if the back edge (the edge that faces toward the front of the pickup) is supposed to be flat, or if it curves away from the pickup in the middle.
I wish I could describe it better for you.
