Just so you don't get confused, there is another approach for pistons on a 400. The 351C pistons can be used if the pin is bushed up from the C size to the M size. So, if someone says "Just use 351C pistons" that's what they are talking about.
Personally, I wouldn't do it. Ford designed the 400 as a workhorse, and gave it larger wrist pins to handle the power. So I wouldn't give that up to use pistons that weren't designed for the job. Get Tim's pistons and do it right.
