Thanks!

Reason: Revision
Cheap insurance for accidentally putting def fluid in the fuel tank or someone adding water either of which will trash the fuel system. My neighbor had his contaminated and the bill was $12,000.
I bought the Stant Cap a couple of years ago. 1st time that I used it the Lock Cylinder came out of the Cap with the Key. In my Opinion it's Junk. Better off with a locking Fuel Door.
I used the Stant for a few months and it was more trouble than it was worth. Getting the key in and out was finicky and the fuel cap retainer lease would stay on it. I would look for fuel door lock instead.
I've had the Stant locking cap from the 1st month I've owned my truck. 30K miles later, it is still working fine. It has worked just like all the other locking fuel caps I've had in my life. Using the key has became easier with a little time.
I don't doubt that there have been some with problems. It is a $15 (or less) item. I considered a locking fuel door but didn't feel like altering the truck. I also thought about installing my own lock as others have done. In the end, I didn't want to modify the body so I didn't do either of those.
Stant has been on for 4.5 years and 55 thousand miles. It works, that's all I rally can say.
It Protects in two ways. First if I loan my truck to someone they can't put fuel in it. It also protect when filling def, it would require you to unlock and remove the cap to put it in the wrong hole.
I hear the new trucks our cap less. I would hate that. I have had the hose break loose on the def container and swap the area in def. The only that protection was my fuel locking cap.
Don't know what kind it is but I bought a cheap one from auto zone about a year ago and it was sticky at first but I just put a few drops of 10 weight oil in the lock and it has been fine.

As far as I know, Ford only goes capless on some of their gasoline models - no Diesels - and Ram (also as far as I know) are the only ones to be capless on their Diesels.
