I just did my y pipe and I can't for the life of me get the dam thing to not leak. Done all the tricks with the rachet straps even tried using my engine hoist. I just can get the dam thing to seal. Does anyone have any other trick I can try. I must get this done today as I am missing work due to my dam truck yet again
Definitely not the Bellows.so should i loosen the bolts holding the pedestal to the top of the oil cooler housing? I already have the bolts holding the turbo to the pedestal loosened up.
before you put the marmon clamp on push the ypipe to turbo see if it lines up even mine does Not so i have to pick up turbo a little on passenger side to make it even once its even i hit the air ratchet and tighten the marmon clamp
works everytime
since i have to pickup the passenger side that passengerside bolt turbo to pedestal is a pain to get in but i just pry it down to start the bolt then hook the rest up
Ok I will give it a try. I have had this turbo in and out of this truck many times. Never had such fits trying to get it to live up.its almost like the new y-pipe is just a tiny bit off from the factory y pipe

It could easy be off a little bit, jigs and set ups, suppliers..... change sometimes, but with the tips above I would sure think it will fall in.
Those pedestal bolts can be a little hard to get at sometimes but it's doable. Don't worry so much if you can't get some torqued, just get them good and tight. It's not a valve cover bolt.
Left the pedestal a little loose before snugging all the other stuff up?

Hoping you got the thing together by now. When I did my HPOP, the most difficult thing was lining the turbo back up. I had to do both as mentioned above.
Started to thread the bolts for the pedestal so it could move slightly and had to pry up with a pry bar to shim it up to meet the Y-pipe to be able to clamp it. It truly was a B-word. Once that clamp was TIGHT I was able to line up everything else.
I was extremely worried I was going to crack my bellows on the Y-pipe, but it worked.
same thing was noted here, ended up fingertight everything to get all the components to line up, then perform a "torque sequence" with all the connections until happy.
I bought a Y pipe about 8 years ago and recall I had to do the "sequence dance" with all the connecting fasteners from the pedestal to the exhaust after finding that when one was cinched down, it just added mating surface distance to the farthest connection.
No worries Anthony, sometimes it's just the "nature of the beast" in the aftermarket world.
