MA $60 - that should cover any passenger vehicle for 2 years. Excise tax is per town yearly... Just paid $43.75 for my 93 (ext cab valued at $1,750 but close enough)
So I guess that would make it $73.75 a year?

Indiana - $94 for a 9,000 lb plate.
A 10,000 lb plate was somewhere around $120.

I think your number for New York is off. I just registered my 91 DRW for 10,000lbs $440 - 216 sales tax - 50 title fee - 25 plate fee.

A 2 year NYS registration for 8600# is $130, at least to renew because that's what my other truck is registered for.

You don't pay the title fee or sales tax every year, at least you shouldn't.....

Here in Idaho:
"car" plates - 8600 GCVWR - $56.23
And then you can purchase higher weights - either 16,000 or 26,000lbs.
I want to say that it's an extra $60 for 16,000 and like $80 for 26000?
I couldn't find that renewal notice handy.

OP asked specifically about 83-94 crew cab SRW trucks, which I believe GVWR should all be 9,999 for 80-97. NJ is $75 for 3500-10k lbs, only costs more if it's within a few years old (i.e. brand new) but does cost less if 79 or older.

it is actually 0 to 5000 lbs for $87.50.
a F-350 4X4 crew cab long bed truck is going to be close to 9000 lbs. so registering it for 10,999 lbs gives you around 2000 lbs of load capacity for towing weight of trailer and load.
and these prices are off a bit, because the chart shows $145 for 10,000 to 10,999 lbs, but it is actually $149
All fees are effective July 1, 2006.

Weight (in Lbs) Total Fee ($)
0 - 5,000 87.50
6,000 99.00
7,000 110.50
8,000 122.00
9,000 133.50
10,000 145.00
11,000 168.50
12,000 182.00
13,000 195.50
14,000 209.00
15,000 222.50
the list actually goes up to 80,000 lbs, but i cut it off at 15,000.

currently anything 1992 or older can be registered as an antique vehicle, or QQ tags for a one time fee of $44

I guess the DMV near you charges more. The several near me charge $75 for under 10k lbs GVWR, used to be less ($65) before they decided to steal more from us justifying it with their bureaucratic inefficiencies. Paying the tax man more doesn't change the rating Ford gave the truck.
