I'm looking to put bigger injectors in my truck. Motor is stock with a SCT tuner on it. Just wondering what size would be good an if the fuel system needs to be upgraded when I put them in.
probably at a minimum you need a fuel pressure sensor and the blue spring update. 155 with 30% nozzle or something like that should be good. You'll need some custom tunes for the new injectors. II makes good injectors.
Generally, larger injectors are going to mean bigger turbo as well - the two should be sized together. You also need regulated return and bigger fuel pump, upgraded transmission to handle the power and unless you plan really well and are a bit conservative, your towing days are over. O-ring'ed head are another probable necessity.
I've thought about larger injectors a lot, but the project just seems to mushroom out of control. If you stick on the small side, most of the upgrades are optional but the power difference will be small and maybe not worth the extra expense. If you go larger, sooner or later, it is going to cost a lot. For example, a lot of guys wait on the transmission upgrades until they wreck their current transmission. I decided it was just too much money
Don't really tow much with my truck. Sometimes a 89 mustang I use to drag race with an one in a blue moon I will pull a trailer with a decent size tractor on it.
I was looking at turbos too. I don't know how much the trans can handle an that's the last thing I want to tear up.
Greg and Dan have the right ideas, more power goes to more money. These trucks can get out of control really quick. If you have a unlimited pocket book then go for it,if not,I wouldn't play. I see how much fuel economy I can get now with a 9000 pound brick going down the highway and that gets out of control.
