Question Injectors

Any suggestions on a brand of injectors? I'm thinking of putting bigger ones on but not to sure what kind and is it a good idea. What's the pros and cons?
Thanks in advance.

Aloha,
Kaipo

We've got a full line of injectors from Bean's Diesel Performance in many different sizes; fuel systems to feed them and will have larger High Pressure Oil Pumps to supply the larger race injectors very soon.

What size injectors are you looking for? 190mm injectors are good for more stock applications using a stock or near stock turbocharger; 250mm and up are recommened to be used with aftermarket turbos/intercoolers and will require a new fuel system to feed.

What did they cost you and did you have to send your tips in and what does the Return Regulated Fuel System do?

Thanks,
Kaipo

We will need the original injectors back, but for a 1000$ refundable core charge we can send you the aftermarket ones first (I do have enough cores around to do that) and install them, and ship the old ones back (to save downtime on the truck).

Jeremy knows more about the specific pricing so give him a call (I'm just the grease monkey with the laptop )

For my injectors in the 6.0L, they were waiting to get a good set of cores in at Bean's because I didn't want to send mine in and have my truck down while waiting. I ended up finding a guy that had a brand new set in a box from the factory and he sold them to me for $1200. That's really good because now I still have my stock ones that I can keep in case I have any problems. To get the injectors made into Stage II's cost around $1500. You'll have to call Jeremy though because they raised the price right as I was getting mine in, but they still gave me the old price. I got lucky there.

As for the Fuel System. The stock fuel system dead ends in the cylinder heads and there is a very restrictive banjo bolt that the fuel has to go through to get in. The Fuel System from Jeremy takes those banjo bolts out and replaces them with 90 degree aeromotive type fittings and then the back of the heads gets a better banjo bolt and pipes the fuel around to an external Aeromotive fuel pressure regulator. In essence, it allows the #7 and #8 injectors to get all the fule they want. Those two are known to get a bit starved when you really push it and especially when you have bigger injectors. It's really worth it to get along with the bigger injectors.

It'll be spring here before I can get to a track and see the times, but I'll let you know how the seat of the pants dyno thinks as soon as she's going again this next week.

Thanks for the awesome explination on the fuel system. Please do keep me informed on what the dyno thinks. Sounds like an awesome setup.

We just did a dyno on a set of 190 and our fuel systems we got 490hp we will be modifing the turbo and redyno'n the truck looking for a 525-550 hp on a daily drive truck that currently runs 13.2's on 33" tires at 7800 lbs @ 490hp.

The 190 or 225 seem to be the best street injectors. they have the least amount of comprimise for every driving and can still get you soem good #'s. Possibly 600 + on spray

Agreed.

The 250mm injectors will work well for higher power applications at the track or other sporting purposes, but will need to be turned down in the calibration to maintain normal fuel economy and safe temperature when towing. Anything larger than 275mm requires a larger high pressure oil pump (or lowered injection ratio) and will likely see drivability issues until custom live tuned in a very timely manner.

What size would you recomend? I have a Flashpaq tuner did the zoodad mod, and straight piped my rig. The last thing would be the injectors and that would be it for me oh and would I be needing a fuel system for it? Thanks in advance.

I woudl recommend some stage 1 injectors about 160-165 cc a fuel system and a turbo mod should put you at about 500 with soem tuning from Matt.. You can install the injectors with the flashpaq but it will never run correct you will haveto switch to an SCT So you can write a proper tuen for the additional Fuel. You can Check out or Stage 1 Package at www.lidiesel.com

I have to agree with Jeremy on this one. Once you go with larger injectors, a custom tuned programmer is needed. That flashpaq, or any standard tuner for that matter, have programs developed specifically for trucks that are "mostly" stock. Larger injectors and not close to stock.

I have to build up my truck savings to get this set up but eventually, I will get it and it would be from you guys. Any other suggestions on performance mods that would be a little less on the pocket for now? I already got my gauges to monitor my rig. Thanks in advance once more. One more thing since I'm on performance Q's. What is this about changing head bolts or something so I don't blow head gaskets? I think that's what I read somewhere. Imay be wrong but doesn't hurt to ask right! Thanks!

Aloha,
Kaipo

I believe your thinking of Head Studs, which keeps the headgasket in place. You develop hot spots when you start adding too much aftermarket hp and that can cause you to blow a headgasket. Putting headstuds on there helps reduce that. I've heard people suggest you put them in even if your are running just a tuner, now I didn't do that, but then I don't dog it like most people do(doesnt mean I didnt have my fun, but I don't constantly have fun). However, since you are talking about bigger injectors, I would definately do headstuds, I think headstuds from Beans is about 550, or somewhere round there. Most headstuds are going to be round that price.
