If you order the manual regen the screen is included already on the truck! I have an XLT and I ordered manual regen. The truck had the screen already programmed so this is what I'm assuming.
yeah I got it on my xl also. It's like the one thing we can rub in the nose of all these lariat platinum king ranch girls.
My first full regen took 35 minutes at highway speeds. My second regen stopped at 25% when I had to stop for fuel and never restarted again. I'm now at 95% again and I still don't like the idea that I'm going to have to drive it at speed for 30 plus minutes to get the filter cleaned because lately I've only been driving short distances at lower speeds. I might try the manual regen in my driveway. I'm sure glad I added it into my build but what a pain to even have to do this. JMHO
I'm torn between adding this screen and just letting the truck do its thing. It would be nice to know, but then again, if I don't see it, I can just forget this thing has to regen and just drive it and enjoy it. Other than the MPG taking a huge drop, I couldn't tell it was regenning with my first regen (at about 300 miles or so). My '08 sounded different and had slightly different power characteristics. Not so with my '17.
should not have to drive it 30 minutes to go thru a cycle.
Unless around 10 miles takes you that long.
The plus of knowing that it is getting close is to plan your route if possible.
Just know that if it starts you can switch to the screen and monitor. If you have to stop and it is not a zero % you can let the truck idle a few minutes to burn off the excess fuel so it does not go into the crankcase. That will also allow your turbo to cool down from the high EGT's
Great thread and since my truck is at the dealer this morning for the tranny line issue, I asked them to add this. Initially they didn't know how. Pulled up this thread with the screenshots and they said no problem, but it'll be $70.00. I told them its money well spent and to please get it done.

I've so far taken the "forget-it-and-drive" method. Being my truck is only used for 5th wheel towing (and 45' 21K at that), I have enough responsibilities and things to look out for. I'm thinking this should not be one of them.

My wife has a BMW X5 35d and that is precisely the strategy that BMW employs. There are no messages whatsoever regarding DPF regen status.
