I'm having trouble disconnecting the the little steering u-joint from the rack on my 87. The bolt is completely out.
Saturday, I going to try loosening the bolts that hold the rack to the vehicle and move the rack forward to see if that helps.
I don't remember having to do this last time I changed it. Seems like It just came right off and went right back on the new one.
What have I forgotten? Any ideas?
Can you pry apart a little the yoke that the bolt went thru? Any tool you can get in there to spread it a small amount will let it come off. don-ohio (:^)
Loosened up passenger side mount bolt almost all the way. Removed driver side bolt that allowed rack to drop on that side enough to get the yoke off. Reversed procedure to put new rack on. I sure don't remember having to do that when I replaced it 5 years ago. Maybe me and these vehicles are getting too old.
